2017 Gardens
A Garden of Rooms
Central City
Don’t stop at the front gate - there is quite a surprise around the back. Displaying a lovely water feature, a big vegetable garden, fruit trees, grapes, and hens, there was plenty of colour from perennials and shrubs in this garden.

Lake Views
North District
This was an immaculate garden that was full of interest and colour from the entrance right down to Lake Rotorua. The box hedges had been lovingly cared for to make stunning garden rooms.

Full of Life
North District
This was a rambling suburban garden, terraced with mixed borders of perennials and shrubs, old roses and vegetable potagers. It descends gently towards a gully with mixed exotic and indigenous trees.

Bright and Bold
South District
This was a young garden surrounding a colourful home on the top of a small hill, offering spectacular valley views. The borders are largely perennials, yellow and blue being the predominant colours which echo the colours of the house.

2015 Gardens
Picnic with a View
Rotoiti
It is worth visiting this garden just to stand at the top and admire the magnificent view of Lake Rotorua. Then look down on the manmade dry river beds that tumble down the hill into the native area. Excellent planting for a dry and difficult windy spot.

Elegance and Class
Lake Okareka
A long tree lined drive leading to an elegant English garden setting. Huge manicured lawns fit for a wedding, a formal walled garden with yellow, white and red roses, brick walls and lovely perennial gardens.

Stunning Levels
Ngongotaha
Mt Ngongotaha provides the backdrop to the garden which slopes down to the Ngongotaha Stream. At the top level is a large mixed border of roses and perennials intersected by stone walled steps. On the lower level ponga lined pathways wind their way through mixed plantings of flowering shrubs, rhododendrons, ferns and natives.

Acres of Colour
Waikite Valley
A special 4-acre garden which shows what can be achieved when you retire from farming, but keep the tractor. The many pathways lead to different feature areas each with their own unique planting, quirky garden ornaments and seats. There are 18 seats where you can stop for a picnic and enjoy the beautiful views.
